Tour guide ana

Hi, I’m your guide. My name is Andrijana Marstjepović, but most people call me Ana. I was born in Bar, Montenegro. If you decide to spend your holiday in my country with When in Montenegro, I will be your guide, and I will do my best to make your stay an unforgettable experience. Feel free to contact me for anything you need to know.

Talking about myself has never been an easy task, but I will share what I think is important so you have an idea of who will be guiding you througout Montenegro. During high school I developed a love for languages, specifically Italian and Spanish. English was already a language I was quite familiar with because I started to learn it in grade school at the young age of nine. Italian and Spanish were intriguing to me because they were quite different from English, and they just had a different sound to my ears. So after I graduated high school I decided to move to Rome, Italy to study langauges at one of the world’s most famous universities at Sapienza Università di Roma (Sapienza Univerity of Rome). I majored in Languages, Cultures, Literature, and Translation in the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies. The time I spent studying in Rome was immeasurable. It exposed me to answers of what I want to do with my life. Exploring this eternal city, meeting new people and cultures became a daily routine for me and it never got boring. The time I spent in Rome could not have been afforded without the support of my exceptional parents. While I was discovering the city I found the tour guides constantly grabbing my attention. I used to think to myself and chatter to my friends, “Their job must be difficult, but very pleasing.“ I mean, the city by itself says it all, but how great it is to help someone fall in love even more with the place thanks to someone’s stories and the way they’re transmitting them? As I observed visitors with their tour guides I started to think more and more about my homecountry Montenegro. And I felt this fascinating country deserves to be presented to the world the way it is, small but with a vast amount of places to visit. What’s so unique is that because Montenegro is so small, one wouldn’t think there is much to see, but there is far more to this small country then one can imagine.

In 2019, I decided to move back to Montenegro to make my vision come true. First, I got my license to be a tour guide. Then I started to work as a tour guide for several agencies in Montenegro. I had the privilege of guiding not just large groups, but small groups too. I learned the ins and outs of showing visitors Montenegro and I saw first-hand what the advantages and disadvantages were. A common theme among the people that were in my tour groups was that I was very approachable, light-hearted and enthusiastic about showing them Montenegro, and most importantly that I ought to open my own business. Numerous people advised me to work harder and to create something on my own to give visitors a more personal, intimate experience visiting Montenegro. And thus, the birth of my idea, to show people my country in a small group setting that way they can see places that aren’t accessible in large groups but also to see places that are very known and very familiar all around the world.

Having lived for her whole life in two coastal towns, she says that her main inspiration is the sea so you’ll often find details of sea life in her photos. With the desire to capture nature, the way of living, beautiful cornes of our country, sea and mountanous region she describes her work as ”(a)more i visine.” ”More” meaning sea and ”visine” meaning heights(mountains) with a hidden meaning of LOVE that we find in the first word in Italian as ”amore”. So, that’s how the idea to photograph our country, that is usually described as a country of sea and mountains, was born. A very keen eye for detail where everything is perfect; the lighting, the emotions, the composition, these photos tell their stories where you’ll have this warm, like-home feeling just looking at them. Hopefully you’ll get this feeling too and loose yourself in the depth of the colours. When she sees the opportunity, she acts on it very artistically while thinking how she is going to present her work in its final form.
